    As the Executive Director of SPARC, Heather Joseph is an internationally renowned and well-respected expert in open research policies, practices, and implementation strategies. Under her stewardship, SPARC has become the leading advocacy organization that promotes innovative, open, and equitable global systems of research and education.     Ben Zhao
    Ben Zhao

    Ben Zhao is the Neubauer Professor of Computer Science at the University of Chicago. He is an ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) distinguished scientist and has received numerous awards. He has authored more than 160 publications in such areas as security and privacy, machine learning, networked systems, Internet measurements, and human-computer interaction. His research has been covered by a number of media outlets, including Scientific American, The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal, and MIT Technology Review.   • The theme for the 2025 Open Repositories Conference is: Twenty Years of Progress, a Future of Possibilities

    We are accepting proposals and the submission deadline has been extended to January 13, 2025.

  • The Open Repositories Steering Committee is now accepting applications for fellowships to attend the 20th Open Repositories Conference in Chicago, USA. The fellowship program seeks to enhance global participation in Open Repositories by providing an opportunity for those with limited travel funding to attend the conference. Details are available on the  fellowship page.

  • Sponsorship opportunities are now available.

    OR2025 is an excellent place for companies and organizations that deal with digital asset management, digital storage, research information systems, scholarly publications, open access and open data to be seen and interact with participants. The event gives access to a large audience of potential customers and partners as well as insights into what is hot in the area from a user perspective.

    We expect approximately 350-400 attendees from all over the world. These will include directors of digital initiatives, technical staff and developers, librarians, and repository managers as well as applied researchers in digital libraries and similar fields.

    We particularly welcome proposals aligned to the overall theme, but also on other administrative, organizational, or practical topics related to digital repositories.

    Submission categories include posters, workshops, lightning talks, papers, and panels.
