The in-person Open Repositories 2025 conference will be held as planned in Chicago, Illinois, June 15-18, 2025.
We are aware that recent political and policy developments in the United States have caused concern within our community. We recognize that some of you may be facing financial or travel/visa restrictions that may prevent you from attending the conference, which we deeply regret.
Open Repositories is a community-driven event, organized for and by the community. Given our current resources and as we are only a few weeks away from the start of the conference, we are unfortunately unable to transform this year’s event into a hybrid format or to move it entirely online. We have also considered postponing the conference, but the current situation’s uncertainty makes it difficult to determine a more suitable time. Given that many of you have already registered and made travel arrangements and in light of the costs for cancelling the event at this time, we are progressing as planned.
For those who are unable to attend this year, we look forward to welcoming you in 2026, when full online participation will be possible. For those of you joining us in Chicago, please ensure that you stay up-to-date with U.S. entry requirements and travel advisories.
