We are thrilled to have you join us for Open Repositories 2025! As part of the event, we are offering exclusive tours of the University of Chicago Library, showcasing some of our most innovative and historic spaces.
Tour Options:
- Mansueto Library and Automated Retrieval System (Monday and Tuesday, 8:30am-9:15am): A tour of the Mansueto Reading Room and demonstration of the underground robotic retrieval system.
- Tour of Digitization & Preservation (Monday and Tuesday, 8:30am-9:15am): A tour of Mansueto’s Preservation Labs including Conservation and Digitization operations at UChicago showcases the highly specialized digital imaging lab featuring Phase One cameras and large-format overhead scanners, alongside Conservation’s cutting-edge conservation tools like an XRF spectrometer and spectral imaging work. Visitors will also see expert staff discuss the work that happens in the lab each year.
- Special Collections Research Center (Tuesday, 8:30am-9:15am): A viewing of selected rare books and archival gems from the Library’s Special Collections. Visitors are also welcome to enjoy the current exhibit in our gallery during this time.
