Travel to Chicago

Chicago is served by two international airports, O’Hare and Midway. O’Hare was recently rated the world’s best-connected airport, offering well over 200 non-stop flights to destinations worldwide. Together with Midway, this makes Chicago one of the best cities in the Americas for national and international travelers. Both airports have public transport links into Chicago via frequent trains, with Midway, featuring a direct bus connection into Hyde Park. Taxis and rideshare options are easily available, as are rental cars.

Chicago has an extensive public transport system, the second oldest and second most extensive in the US, only behind New York City. The Hyde Park neighborhood and the city center of Chicago (the “Loop”) are walkable, and cycling options exist.

Public Transit from the Airport

From Midway Airport, visitors can take a bus (#55) directly to our campus in Hyde Park, which takes about 50 minutes. Ride shares from Midway only take about 20-25 minutes to get directly to campus.

From O’Hare, visitors can take the Blue Line to the Loop and transfer at the Jackson Blue Line stop to the 6 or 2 bus to Hyde Park (both run express, but the 2 bus is only active during morning or evening rush hour times). Given the distance, visitors are encourage to allot an hour and 45 minutes to two hours of travel time to reach Hyde Park from O’Hare via public transportation. Ride shares from O’Hare to Hyde Park take about 45-50 minutes.

You can use a mapping application or the CTA Trip Planner to determine transit options.
